My 6M friend, Suzie Cheel at Abundance Highway, has just returned from the Australian Blogging Conference where she met some great blogging personalities and picked up some extremely useful information about increasing regular readers and monetizing blogs.

Suzie has a great ability in providing concise summaries (see her post about Blog Carnivals) and she has put together a great post about the Australian Blogging Conference containing some great tips from the masters of blogging. Yaro Starak is the only person who has been able to come close to fully explaining “trackbacks” to me. Until today.

I posted a question at Easy WordPress forum ages ago and received notification of a response today posted by Gordon who recommended I watch a video.

It’s the best explanation I’ve been able to find so I thought I’d share it with you in case you are as unclear as I have been.

I’m really impressed with the discounts available via Deal Dot Com. But, more than that the products so far have been excellent.

Today’s offer is Long Tail Traffic Secrets. I’d read the sales letter for this last week and was interested but couldn’t justify the cost. I put a diary reminder in Outlook to review it again next week. I just found my link and went to the sales page to check it is the same product and sure enough the usual price is $97 but for today only it’s reduced to just $38.99 (see the box in the right sidebar).

I promise not to go on about this anymore but I’m really impressed. By the way there is a widget on the sidebar now that automatically updates each day with the new products available. I wasn’t going to mention this but the first two products offered (day 1 & 2) are of such good quality and with such good discounts I can’t keep it to myself.

DealDotCom is a great concept. Vendors offer their product at a significant discount BUT limit the number of copies available. When they’re gone at the price - they’re gone.

For example, yesterday there was a 50% discount on a membership site software program (all sold out by end of the day) and today a similar discount on a program that I’ve been considering for a while - a Word Press plug in to automate the adding of affiliate links - I have been really tempted by this but have done nothing - to date! At 50% discount it looks an even better proposition.

Add to this the fact there is an in-built affiliate program I think DealDotCom is likely to be a great success.

I just heard from JP Schoeffel that he has a few openings for his Niche in a Box program. He restricts the numbers quite severely to retain the systems integrity so this opportunity only arrives from time to time.

I’ve been working on building the backlinks to this blog by posting relevant comments on other blogs but… it’s hard work!

Commenting isn’t the hard part - finding relevant blogs is. I’ve spent time reading blogs I’ve found on MyBlogLog and Fame Me but unfortunately most of them aren’t what I’m looking for - either the content isn’t appropriate, the quality poor or the page rank and visitors so low that a link wouldn’t help much.

How much time I’ve wasted is anyone’s guess! But a few days ago I found the solution and it’s FREE (at least the basic version is).

Comment Hut does all the hard work for you, leaving you the relatively simple task of writing your comment. If you are building backlinks to your blog you really need to take a look at this. You simply enter the word or words that are relevant to your blog (say dogs for example) and Comment Hut will go out and find the blogs with relevant content BUT only tells you about those that allow comments. No point in looking at those that don’t help your backlinking strategy!

When you have the list you can then check the page rank and with a single click you visit the site and leave your comment with your URL - instant success.

The basic free version searches Wordpress blogs but if you want more scope to include other platforms such as Typepad, Drupal, Squidoo,  etc then you may want to take a look at the paid for version. I’m not sure if there is any real advantage to looking at all of the platforms apart from the obvious increase in blogs available on which to post. Someone will no doubt tell me if links from a variety of platforms are better than just one for Search Engine Optimisation. It is really simple to download and use - the Comment Hut site has a video that explains everything but it really is so straightforward it’s not difficult to install the software or use the features.

I’m taking a few weeks out this year and will be staying at my apartment in Costa Esuri. As that happens to be in August I won’t be able to take part in this year’s 30 Day Challenge.

I have signed up all the same and I strongly recommend you take a look because already, in the pre-lauinch stage there’s been some fantastic information that will be really useful if you are into internet marketing.

I don’t know if it’s just me but when I joined My BlogLog earlier this year the comments from people joining communities tended to be personal and generally complimentary about each others blogs. Recently, I’ve noticed that most of the comments are of the “take a look at my blog - competition, great new opportunity blah, blah, blah”.

Seems to me that the option to broadcast to all community members has been too good to miss for most and I personally think this is a shame. It will end up with the real bloggers giving up on MyBlogLog because of this spam.
