How to use Twitter to Generate Traffic

Are you Twittering yet?

I joined a while back but frankly I didn’t get it. I tried using it for a few days and stopped a month or so ago. But Dr Ron the NicheProf recently wrote an article and the light bulb went on!

Twitter is still a relatively new social networking site, and there are still thousands of marketers who are not using it to its full potential.

Some are not using it at all. As with just about any other social networking site you can mention, you have to put in the work at the start to establish yourself as a credible, helpful contributor who is there to do more than just give a sales message and win customers.

Using Twitter is an art form all of its own, and is totally unlike anything you will do anywhere else.

The short length of the messages you are allowed to send means that you have to approach the task in a completely different way. The underlying principle does not change, however, and if you are looking to build a long term business presence, you will need to take a long term view and work to build up your network of friends.

These friends can see your twits on their twitter home page, so it is well worth making the effort to cultivate as many as you can. You are allowed to put links in your twits, so you will need to restrain yourself from getting carried away and posting links too often.

As ever, it takes a bit of work and a bit of thought to use Twitter effectively. Make sure that your twits are of value and interesting.

If you can keep abreast of breaking news, and the latest trends in your area of expertise, you can build up a reputation as being someone to watch out for. This will keep you on people’s friend lists, and give you the chance to broadcast an occasional message about your own website or profile which will encourage them to visit.

Driving social network traffic is never quick or easy, but you can build up a reputation which will result in regular visitors to your site, who have every chance of becoming regular customers.

It’s free service and you can join via the Join Twitter link at the top of my page – Wizzer’s Twitter

As I completed my re-write of my “Nothing Changes Without A Change” expose I started to think about New Year’s Resolutions and why most people have given up before the end of January.

I love Kate Bush’s voice on the track below (I find many songs motivate me as I work – you may like to play the video below while you read this post). The lyrics really sum up this post, for example, “I never thought I could fail” – unfailing belief in your success is THE key to success.

The first reason is that not enough importance has been placed on the resolution (to resolve simply means to decide to do something) and the word should be a New Year’s Commitment. If you commit to doing something there’s a far greater chance that it will happen rather than if you just decide to do it. But…

If we assume a start has been made (no smoking, no chocolate, new business, more exercise, clear debt etc etc) why is it that so few people actually achieve what they set out to do? How do we find a way to succeed?

The major reason is that there is no plan! Without a plan to follow there is no way of measuring success and thus no way of knowing when adjustments have to be made.

If you started a journey with just your destination in mind but no knowledge of the direction to take, no map and no knowledge of how far you have to go it would be inevitable that you’d give up. Indeed you are likely to be heading in the wrong direction anyway!

So the way to succeed is to to have a plan, not any old plan but a proven success strategy, that you commit to following.

The next step is to make sure you stay on track and don’t give up. Believe without a doubt that you will achieve the goal you have set. Don’t get distracted or discouraged. Just keep believing and working towards your goal until it is achieved.

That all sounds easy but in practice? One of the major reasons why people give up too soon is a lack of belief in what they are doing. A few difficulties along the way are then used as “evidence” to reinforce the “belief” that the product is no good, it will never work, I’m too old, young, fat, thin – the list of excuses is endless. Catch your self talk and put a stop to any negativity immediately.

Here’s my 5 step checklist to ensure success.

Key Step #1: Put skepticism aside – if you join a club or buy a product thinking, “It probably
won’t work, but I’ll give it a try…”, then you’re already doomed to fail. Believe totally in your ability to make it a success

Key Step #2: Give 100% effort – don’t think about a “backup plan if this doesn’t work”. You need to commit yourself to *making* it work – there is no other option if you want success.

Key Step #3: Find someone who is already doing what you want and follow their plan to the letter – don’t try to take short cuts or make minor adjustments… do exactly what has been *proven* to work and you will succeed!

Key Step #4: Finish what you start – don’t even think about another project until you’re successful at what you’re doing right now.

Key Step #5: Believe in what you’re doing! This could be the most important key of all and it runs full circle to Key Step #1 – don’t ever allow self-doubt to hold you back from achieving your dreams. If you follow the plan, believe in yourself, and give 100% effort, you will succeed.

You may recall that last year I started using the Affiliate Cash Secrets system (simplicity itself) and in the spirit of “Don’t Give Up” I thought you may like to be inspired by one of the success stories.

To your success in 2008 – if you haven’t made any New Year’s Resolutions – good…

Make a Year 2008 Commitment and follow it through to success.

In just around one week the entire planet has been covered! There are Pay Per Play partners in every country in the world except for North Korea. If you are from North Korea – sign up now!

There are already some partners that have lined up HUGE deals with major Internet marketing companies who collectively are responsible for billions of advertising impressions on a monthly basis.

Could you hook a big fish?

Of course, the answer is YES… A few major deals have been signed up that have agreed to play PPP audio ads on their networks. These major deals collectively have the power to serve billions of audio ad plays month after month.

The affiliate partners responsible for these deals have the potential to earn not hundreds, not thousands… but millions of dollars. One billion PPP ad plays at just $.01 (one cent) per play means $500,000 per month (at 5% commission) for the afiliate responsible for the deal and $500,000 per month for the affiliate that brought that affiliate on board.

You never know who the people you bring on know. You could be 2 steps removed from a million dollar deal. Best of all this is not costing anyone anything.

Don’t hang about – take the plunge before it’s too late…

I’ve been talking about video on blogs and websites recently and you can’t have failed to notice the increasing buzz about this media over the last 6 months or so.

For the past few weeks something massive has been building up which will surpass even the current video mania.

How would you like a GUARANTEED 100% traffic conversion rate on every single website visitor?

It doesn’t matter what your website or blog is about you can be paid EVERYTIME your page is loaded.

I was a little sceptical at first, but as I have a great deal of respect for Charles I delved deeper and now I understand how this works I am just blown away by the potential.

Get your own share of the massive advertising budget of the world’s multi-nationals – whatever your niche – AND “Do It Now” because there is nothing to buy – now or at anytime in the future and you can do this with absolutely no cost.

There’s no sales pitch, no one time offer just a brilliant opportunity for anyone prepared to think about the scale of this:-

A few days ago I wrote about Squeeze Page Mastery and questioned whether audio or video increased the levels of sign-ups.

Although the jury is still out (I do have my expectations however) I decided to give the new Pre SaleVideos offered by Todd Gross and Derrick Van Dyke a try. Although not strictly “squeeze page” videos you could create a page using them, they are really designed to”pre-sell” a particular product. I guess the name is a bit of a give away!

Initially you get 12 professionally produced videos, or rather you get a link already embedded with your own affiliate link, that talks about a top-selling online product – typically via ClickBank or via PayPal.

There is no need for a website or hosting – all you need to do is promote the link and anyone proceeding to purchase the product results in an affiliate sale. For example, THIS IS THE LINK to the video about the PreSaleVideos service.
BUT, you can also embed the videos in your own website and blog pages. For example I’ve added a video for a very, very low cost affiliate marketing product at Ultimate-Internet-Business. You’ll see the video starts automatically and the link then leads directly to the sales page.

There’s a FREE 7 DAY trial and then a low ongoing monthly cost for using the service.

I’m really impressed, particularly as there will be 3-4 new videos added each month PLUS you get the chance to request a video is produced for your favourite product.

I’ve been keen to add video to some of my sites for a while but without the equipment, technical know how and with a face that is better suited to radio I’ve resisted!

This is a great way to achieve my aim at what I think is a very low entry cost.

Everyday the challenge becomes more difficult.

Hear the solution at 2pm EASTERN TIME – TODAY – Wednesday 7th November 2007

Each of us sits squarely on both sides of the fence.

How do we filter out the mountains of unwanted junk that finds its way into our Inboxes?

How do we ensure we DO receive the information we want and have requested without some spam filter blocking it’s receipt?

How do we ensure our genuine email messages get delivered and read by the very people who have genuinely subscribed to receive information?

What’s worse for online marketers is the fact that some reports suggest that over 50% of all emails sent to genuine list subscribers never receive the emails. Now does that change the percentages somewhat?

For example if you email 1000 subscribers and 10 take you up on the offer then you have a conversion of 1%. Probably considered reasonable by many people.

But what if only 500 of those messages were delivered? The conversion is actually 2% because the same number purchased but from fewer seeing your offer.

Now if you knew that vital piece of information perhaps you would consider the project in a different light.

So the challenge is clearly avoiding spam and ensuring maximum email deliverability.

One of the top autoresponder companies is TODAY running a FREE 1 hour online seminar on this very subject:

EMAIL DELIVERABILITY

Anyone looking to improve on their current campaign

Anyone looking to find a way to increase email deliverability

I’ve never met the guy, nor do I know the first thing about him (actually that’s not totally true as I read his story a year or so ago on Derek Gehl’s site) but I’ve TOTALLY had enough of hearing about the “wonderkid” Jermaine Griggs.

Why? Because out of nowhere every online marketer suddenly thinks he is the new guru and sends me an email telling me how I “must get on his $2.95″ deal. We all know there’s a back-end or nobody would be promoting this!

I’m sick of being treated like a meal ticket by these guys.

I’m sorry, his product may be brilliant but I have no interest whatsoever in finding out more because of all of the hype!

This is becoming an enormous problem on the web, in particular in the internet marketing field. Everyone jumping on the bandwagon – most trying to sell something they know nothing about. It is nothing short of disgraceful. How can anybody sell anything they know precious little, if anything, about?

What do you think?

Ah, that’s better to have got that off my chest

After finishing my usual business tasks this week I’ve focused on finalising the “pieces” for one of the online businesses I’m creating using the 6M Profit Method.

MAGENTIZER or SQUEEZE?

What’s in a name? Whether they are termed “Optin”, “Squeeze” or “Magnetizer” pages is probably unimportant unles you are using the term as a keyword as part of a search engine optimisation strategy. But today I want to talk about squeeze pages or as Lisa Diane prefers, Magnetizer Pages. I quite like that term, magnetizer pages, myself because of the positive connotations rather than the thought of any visitor to my site being squeezed!

For now, I’ll use the term squeeze page since that’s the one I think is more familiar to most people.

As my focus for this particular business is affiliate products rather than my own I needed to put up a squeeze page so I can record visitors for future contact and to provide them with ongoing help with their businesses. Most “affiliates” just send people via their link direct to the “vendor’s” site and thus miss out on the possibility of developing a relationship with those visitors, which may get a sale from time to time but is no way to build a long term business.

VIDEO or AUDIO?

Now, I’m not certain whether squeeze pages work best with audio / video / or just words but as I’ve seen so much about video being necessary on sites these days I thought I’d give that a try first. I guess much depends on the PC and connection specification of the visitor but as I already had access to a professional video I put it on my Ultimate Internet Business squeeze page.

I plan to test response by also using a non-video page and I’ll post the results after a trial period.

BRANDED or UNBRANDED?

I have a question nagging away at me to which I cannot find any online wisdom – maybe I’ve not looked too hard. Should a squeeze page be in the same style as the rest of the site? From a branding point of view I think it definitely should but since the objective is to get the visitor to sign up I’ve started to convince myself it’s not important as the branding can take place with actual subscribers. Let me know if you have a view on this by posting a comment below.

At this stage, unless someone convinces me otherwise, my non-video squeeze page will not be site branded. Although I’ve become OKish at creating web pages from templates I really am not skilled at design work – you know layout etc so I started to look around for some templated squeeze pages. I don’t want to pay the monthly cost of some of the services available but found a really good low cost option with some designs I like. Obviously they won’t be original but with a bit of tweaking I’m hoping one of them will do the trick. I’ll give you link to take a look as soon as I’ve finished.

Those 2 words fill me with dread!

Whatever we do in life there is normally a part of any job / business that we dislike, sometimes intensely. For me, in my online business, its Keyword Research & finding BackLinks. I just find it so boring. There, I’ve upset a whole raft of people that love all that stuff.

Thinking about it, if you’re reading this let me know and you can do the KeyWord research for me!

I know how important the task is, however, and a while back I came across NicheBot which is an online tool that uses multiple platforms to carry out the KeyWord research that is so necessary. What I like about this tool is that it is the “pay as you go” element. So rather than paying a high monthly fee for something you may not use very often, there is a usage charge. That works for me. The software is particularly good at locating longtail keywords by doing more detailed drill down research and has been designed to assist in building silo based websites.

Here’s the link to Nichebot, which ISN’T, I hasten to add an affiliate link. I just like the product. There’s also a link to a free 5 part course in getting backlinks.

Nichebot - shows you how to amplify the current results you are getting right now. You will know exactly what keywords should be in your web 2.0 or reciprocal linking backlinks

Have fun, Wizzer

There, I’ve said it. Does it make me feel better. No.

Just when everything seems to be going fine I discover another problem that only occurs in Internet Explorer.

Last week it was rendering text on my Golf Apartment site all over the place. Today I find it is messing up my sidebars on this blog.

It’s not happened before as far as I’m aware and I haven’t changed anything. Aaaargh.

If any of you has any technical knowledge of why this happens I’ll be really pleased to hear from you.

In the meantime – sorry to any IE users who may find the page looks strange but I don’t have time to delve into this problem right now. My recommendation is to download Firefox and escape the microsoft monster!
