Jermaine Griggs

I’ve never met the guy, nor do I know the first thing about him (actually that’s not totally true as I read his story a year or so ago on Derek Gehl’s site) but I’ve TOTALLY had enough of hearing about the “wonderkid” Jermaine Griggs.

Why? Because out of nowhere every online marketer suddenly thinks he is the new guru and sends me an email telling me how I “must get on his $2.95″ deal. We all know there’s a back-end or nobody would be promoting this!

I’m sick of being treated like a meal ticket by these guys.

I’m sorry, his product may be brilliant but I have no interest whatsoever in finding out more because of all of the hype!

This is becoming an enormous problem on the web, in particular in the internet marketing field. Everyone jumping on the bandwagon – most trying to sell something they know nothing about. It is nothing short of disgraceful. How can anybody sell anything they know precious little, if anything, about?

What do you think?

Ah, that’s better to have got that off my chest

Squeeze Page Mastery

After finishing my usual business tasks this week I’ve focused on finalising the “pieces” for one of the online businesses I’m creating using the 6M Profit Method.

MAGENTIZER or SQUEEZE?

What’s in a name? Whether they are termed “Optin”, “Squeeze” or “Magnetizer” pages is probably unimportant unles you are using the term as a keyword as part of a search engine optimisation strategy. But today I want to talk about squeeze pages or as Lisa Diane prefers, Magnetizer Pages. I quite like that term, magnetizer pages, myself because of the positive connotations rather than the thought of any visitor to my site being squeezed!

For now, I’ll use the term squeeze page since that’s the one I think is more familiar to most people.

As my focus for this particular business is affiliate products rather than my own I needed to put up a squeeze page so I can record visitors for future contact and to provide them with ongoing help with their businesses. Most “affiliates” just send people via their link direct to the “vendor’s” site and thus miss out on the possibility of developing a relationship with those visitors, which may get a sale from time to time but is no way to build a long term business.

VIDEO or AUDIO?

Now, I’m not certain whether squeeze pages work best with audio / video / or just words but as I’ve seen so much about video being necessary on sites these days I thought I’d give that a try first. I guess much depends on the PC and connection specification of the visitor but as I already had access to a professional video I put it on my Ultimate Internet Business squeeze page.

I plan to test response by also using a non-video page and I’ll post the results after a trial period.

BRANDED or UNBRANDED?

I have a question nagging away at me to which I cannot find any online wisdom – maybe I’ve not looked too hard. Should a squeeze page be in the same style as the rest of the site? From a branding point of view I think it definitely should but since the objective is to get the visitor to sign up I’ve started to convince myself it’s not important as the branding can take place with actual subscribers. Let me know if you have a view on this by posting a comment below.

At this stage, unless someone convinces me otherwise, my non-video squeeze page will not be site branded. Although I’ve become OKish at creating web pages from templates I really am not skilled at design work – you know layout etc so I started to look around for some templated squeeze pages. I don’t want to pay the monthly cost of some of the services available but found a really good low cost option with some designs I like. Obviously they won’t be original but with a bit of tweaking I’m hoping one of them will do the trick. I’ll give you link to take a look as soon as I’ve finished.

KeyWord Research

Those 2 words fill me with dread!

Whatever we do in life there is normally a part of any job / business that we dislike, sometimes intensely. For me, in my online business, its Keyword Research & finding BackLinks. I just find it so boring. There, I’ve upset a whole raft of people that love all that stuff.

Thinking about it, if you’re reading this let me know and you can do the KeyWord research for me!

I know how important the task is, however, and a while back I came across NicheBot which is an online tool that uses multiple platforms to carry out the KeyWord research that is so necessary. What I like about this tool is that it is the “pay as you go” element. So rather than paying a high monthly fee for something you may not use very often, there is a usage charge. That works for me. The software is particularly good at locating longtail keywords by doing more detailed drill down research and has been designed to assist in building silo based websites.

Here’s the link to Nichebot, which ISN’T, I hasten to add an affiliate link. I just like the product. There’s also a link to a free 5 part course in getting backlinks.

Nichebot - shows you how to amplify the current results you are getting right now. You will know exactly what keywords should be in your web 2.0 or reciprocal linking backlinks

Have fun, Wizzer

I Hate Internet Explorer!

I’m Mark Wilson & I’m a Firefoxaholic.

There, I’ve said it. Does it make me feel better. No.

Just when everything seems to be going fine I discover another problem that only occurs in Internet Explorer.

Last week it was rendering text on my Golf Apartment site all over the place. Today I find it is messing up my sidebars on this blog.

It’s not happened before as far as I’m aware and I haven’t changed anything. Aaaargh.

If any of you has any technical knowledge of why this happens I’ll be really pleased to hear from you.

In the meantime – sorry to any IE users who may find the page looks strange but I don’t have time to delve into this problem right now. My recommendation is to download Firefox and escape the microsoft monster! ;)
